  • Taekwondo is a modern style of self-defense using skilled and proper applications of kicks, punches, blocks, dodges and interceptions.  Literally “Tae” means to kick or smash with the foot; “Kwon” means to punch or strike with the fist or hand; “Do” means the art or way.  Together Tae-Kwon-Do means “The art of foot and hand fighting”.  Tae-Kwon-Do is taught in over 70 countries to more than 50 million people.  For those interested in sport Tae-Kwon-Do, Tae-Kwon-Do is now an official Olympic sport, the only Martial Art in the Olympics besides Judo

  • Jiu-Jitsu is said to be one of the most ancient martial arts in the world, which has its origins in ancient Japan.  The meaning of Jiu-Jitsu roughly translates to “The gentle art of submission.”  The basic principle underlying all Jiu-Jitsu techniques is that force should not be directly opposed but given way to and redirected.  Techniques practiced include breakfalling, throwing, locking and immobilizing joints, ground fighting and striking all carried out in an atmosphere of mutual cooperation and respect.

  • Karate is a generic term for the various kick/punch arts which originated in Okinawa and Japan. Karate is a Japanese word that translates into English as, “empty hand.” It is a martial art of unarmed self-defense in which directed blows of the hands or feet are delivered with special shouts from a poised stance. Karate is related to judo but stresses striking techniques, through kicks and punches, rather than wrestling or throwing an opponent. Karate as a means of self-defense has the oldest history, going back hundreds of years.  Training based on these principles and knowledge of the working of the muscles and the joints and the vital relation between movement and balance enable the modern student of Karate to be prepared, both physically and psychologically, to defend himself successfully against any would-be assailant.

  • Aikido is a Japanese martial art involving a wide range of throws, joint locks, and takedowns. The name Aikido is composed of three Japanese words:  ai, meaning harmony; ki, spirit or energy; and do, art or way.  Aikido is the way of the spirit of harmony.  The basic movements of Aikido are circular in nature; most attacks are linear.  The Aikidoist harmonizes with, rather than confronts an aggressive line and converts it into a circular motion that renders the attacker helpless.

  • Muay Thai existed for centuries as a fighting martial art and is well known for its devastating knee, elbow and shin kicks. Muay Thai developed in Thailand and is popular today the world over as a ring sport for competition fighting. All strikes are allowed in the ring, unlike western boxing, which prohibits all but strikes with gloved fists.

  • Boxing is in principle a sport, more than a martial art. In both amateur boxing and professional boxing, the bouts are heavily regulated. When it comes to punching technique and power, there are few martial arts that are as focused on fist strikes as is boxing, which makes boxers formidable opponents in mixed martial arts competitions (or on the street, for that matter).

  • Budo Ryu Shin Gendi Senshi (Budo Ryu MMA)
Bu = Martial
Do = Way
Ryu = School
Shin = True
Gendi = Modern
Senshi = Warrior

Combined they mean living life the martial way as a true modern warrior.

Budo Ryu  is Reality Based Training; it is a true mixed martial art; not just jiu-jitsu.

Budo Ryu Mixed Martial Arts is based on but is not limited to all of the above martial arts.
